What RPZ testing means
RPZ testing refers to the field test of a reduced pressure principle assembly, not a score from an app. EPA describes backflow as flow into potable water pipes from a different source, and backsiphonage as backflow caused by negative pressure in those pipes. For a step-by-step overview, see the testing guide.
EPA also lists reduced pressure principle devices among the basic means used against backflow, along with air gaps, barometric loops, atmospheric and pressure vacuum breakers, and double check devices. The assembly itself uses two checks, a relief to atmosphere, test cocks, and shutoff valves. The manual says it is used for constant pressure and higher hazard settings.
Template versus their form
An RPZ test report template is a blank set of notes. It is not the water supplier form, and it is not a test result from Backflow Record. If you want a place to capture notes first, see the record blank and the report form guide.
The form you must file is the one the water supplier names. Backflow Record is separate from that filing step and is meant to help store the details you enter. For more background on related topics, visit the guides hub.
A report in Backflow Record is a record you fill in. It is not a substitute for a licensed tester or for the form your water supplier requires. It does not report an inspection result, and it does not mean a plumbing rule was met.
