Testers, plumbers, and property owners

Residential backflow testing and commercial jobs both leave a paper trail. Backflow Record is for the copy you keep: the notes you typed on the phone. The water supplier may still require its own form, filed its own way.

A tester's own file

For a tester, Backflow Record keeps the job notes in one place after residential backflow testing or larger work. It is for the record you enter on the phone, with room for the details you want to keep and share later as a PDF record. See PDF record and common questions.

A property owner

For a property owner, the app is a simple place to store the backflow test report copy and the notes that came with it. It is not the supplier form, and it is not the test itself. If you want to compare use cases, see how Backflow Record compares.

Filing with the supplier

The 2003 EPA manual says local municipal, county, and state requirements may amend or replace its guideline procedure, and the passages reviewed do not set one nationwide test interval. So the water supplier or local program sets the interval and the filing steps. For timing guidance, see how often to test backflow.

A report in Backflow Record is a record you fill in. It is not a substitute for a licensed tester or for the form your water supplier requires. It does not report an inspection result, and it does not mean a plumbing rule was met.
